NOVELTY - The organic polymer absorption type optical modulator has a substrate layer (1), a graphene trapezoidal optical waveguide structure and an electrode structure formed on the substrate layer. The graphene trapezoidal optical waveguide structure consists of an organic polymer lower cladding layer (2), an organic polymer core layer (9) and an organic polymer upper cladding layer (5) in order from bottom to top. A second graphene layer (8) extends a portion to the right along the lower surface of the organic polymer upper cladding layer, and the extended portion extends between the second electrode (4) and the organic polymer lower cladding layer and extends the width of the portion is such that there is still some area of contact between the second electrode and the organic polymer lower cladding layer. The width of a dielectric insulating layer (6) is smaller than the width of the organic polymer upper cladding layer on the organic polymer. USE - Organic polymer absorption type optical modulator insensitive to polarization based on trapezoidal graphene. ADVANTAGE - The modulator structure not only provides a new idea and a new method for the research and development of the organic polymer optical waveguide integrated chip, but also lays a good foundation for the rapid development of the organic polymer planar optical waveguide integrated chip, and has wide market prospect. The modulator is easier to realize, and the preparation process is compatible with the traditional complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process and is easy to integrate. The organic polymer materials are easy for preparation and processing.
