NOVELTY - A binder composition comprises 0.5-3.0 weight/weight% starch, 0.05-1.0 weight/weight% sodium hydroxide, 0.05-3.5 weight/weight% sodium silicate, and the remainder of metal bearing fines. USE - Binder composition used in manufacture of green briquettes for briquetting metal bearing fine (all claimed) and other metal such as manganese, bauxite, boron, chromium, iron-nickel and/or ferrous slag, and for making steel. ADVANTAGE - The composition has excellent physical property and metallurgical property, and improved the quality of steel or other metal product. The briquette is economical and environmentally-friendly. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: a green briquette, which is formed from the composition. The briquettes are dried using forced flow of air at low temperature; and briquetting metal bearing fines, which involves combining 0.5-3.0 weight/weight% starch, 0.05-1.0 weight/weight% base (sodium hydroxide), 0.05-3.5 weight/weight% sodium silicate and metal bearing fines to produce a mixture.
