NOVELTY - Preparation of graphene modified tantalum pentoxide involves: (1) preparing graphene oxide dispersion; (2) ultrasonically dispersing tantalum ethoxide in ethanol to obtain a tantalum ethoxide-ethanol dispersion; (3) slowly dripping into preheated graphene oxide dispersion under stirring state, adjusting the pH of the mixed solution after the addition is completed, and reacting at 60-90°C for 30-60 minutes to obtain a reaction product; and (4) calcining the reaction product obtained in step (3) at 600-800°C for 1-3 hours under protective atmosphere. USE - Preparation of graphene modified tantalum pentoxide used for growing high quality single crystal (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method provides graphene modified tantalum pentoxide, which has uniform particle size. The negative charge on the surface of graphene oxide can absorb positively charged tantalum ions. Tantalum ethoxide is evenly adsorbed on the surface of graphene oxide during hydrolysis, thus avoiding self-agglomeration of tantalum hydroxide. When graphene oxide is reduced to graphene during high-temperature sintering under protective atmosphere, it can further prevent the agglomeration of tantalum pentoxide particles, and finally form tantalum pentoxide particles with good dispersibility. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for the graphene modified tantalum pentoxide, which has an average particle diameter between 0.3 µm and 5 µm.
