NOVELTY - The device has a detecting light source device (1) for providing light beam to a refractive index probe (2). An information beam extracting device (3) receives reflected light beam with refractive index information. The refractive index probe is connected with a coupling prism (21) e.g. D-shaped prism, trapezoidal prism or triangular prism, and a transparent substrate (22). A surface of a graphene film (23) is formed with a sample groove (24) that is matched with a sound wave generating device (25) e.g. sound wave generator or speaker, to test sample refractive index. USE - Device for detecting refractive index of a sample e.g. solid, liquid, gas, plasma, biological molecules and biological tissue or biological cells (all claimed) based on high-sensitivity graphene surface wave. ADVANTAGE - The device adopts the sound wave generating device to quickly change refractive index of the sample and reduces sample refractive index measuring time. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a method for detecting refractive index of a sample based on high-sensitivity graphene surface wave.
