NOVELTY - The system has a flexible donut-shaped bag that is adapted for positioning in the trash can. The bag includes a sealed donut-shaped bottom that is adapted to be positioned at a base (102) of the trash can. The bag includes an open donut-shaped top that is adapted to be positioned and retained at a top periphery of the trash can. An open-ended tubular region extends through bag between donut-shaped top and donut-shaped bottom. The bag is impervious to liquid (20). A rigid container has an open top (14B) that is mounted in tubular region of bag. The open top is coupled to donut-shaped top of bag. The open top is adapted to be approximately aligned with the top periphery of the trash can. The rigid container includes side walls (14C) comprised of ballistic materials. A liquid fills flexible-donut shaped bag. A ballistic fabric is situated inside of the trash can and outside of the flexible-donut shaped bag. USE - Blast containment system for trash can e.g. rigid-trash can (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The system provide a cost-effective blast containment system. The retention of bag at open top is achieved in a variety of ways. The drain port is provided in flexible bag to allow liquid to be readily drained.
