NOVELTY - A polypropylene membrane is coated with an organomethoxysilane alone or in combination with oxide particles. USE - Polypropylene membrane is used in device for filtration of fluid such as blood and water, preferably membrane bioreactor, and device for reverse osmosis, concentration of particles or microorganisms and/or dialysis (all claimed). Water is seawater, municipal wastewater, brackish water, and industrial process water, such as cooling, heating, and boiler water. ADVANTAGE - The polypropylene membrane has high permeability for liquids, preferably water. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for manufacture of the polypropylene membrane, which involves preparing an organomethoxysilane solution by dissolving the organomethoxysilane in a mixture of alcohol and water, acid-catalyzed hydrolyzing, immersing the polypropylene membrane in the solution, and fixing and drying the polypropylene membrane.
