NOVELTY - Cathode active material comprises a core containing metal particles, and a shell surrounding the core. The metal particles include magnesium, aluminum, silicon, calcium, iron, manganese, cobalt, nickel, zinc and/or germanium. The core has a void volume of ≤ 0.1 cc/g. USE - The cathode active material is useful in electrode of lithium secondary battery (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The cathode active material has an effect of providing high-output secondary battery capable of stable charge/discharge behavior under high current density and has high efficiency; and is economical. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: producing the cathode active material, comprising preparing precursor powder by spray drying a solution containing metal-containing particles, preparing heat-treated powder by mixing the precursor powder and the first amorphous carbon and performing first heat treatment, mixing and complexing the heat-treated powder, crystalline carbon, and second amorphous carbon, and carrying out second heat treatment, where the metal includes silicon, aluminum, titanium, manganese, nickel, copper, vanadium, zirconium, cobalt, iron and niobium; electrode, comprising the cathode active material; and lithium secondary battery, comprising a cathode containing the cathode active material, an anode positioned opposite to the cathode, and an electrolyte disposed between the cathode and the anode.
