NOVELTY - Silicon carbon composite material comprises nano-silicon and graphene-type carbon nano-sheets. The graphene-type carbon nanosheets form a coating on the nano-silicon. A silicon-oxygen layer exists between the graphene-type carbon nanosheets and the nanosilicon. USE - The silicon carbon composite material is useful in cathode material and lithium ion battery (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The material has high conductivity, excellent cycle stability and good multiplying power performance under large current, high conductivity, and realizes one-pot commercial nano-silicon particle surface coating graphene-type carbon layer, and overcomes the problem that the asphalt coating nanosilicon has bad dispersion effect, uneven surface coating, easy agglomeration, and fast capacity attenuation. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) Preparing composite material, comprising (i) obtaining a mixed precursor containing halogenated salt, nano-silicon, and graphene-type carbon nano-sheet precursor, and (ii) annealing the mixed precursor; (2) Cathode material, comprising at least one of the silicon-carbon composite material; and (3) Lithium ion battery, comprising the cathode material.
