NOVELTY - The material has a layered silicon core and graphene quantum dots, where the layered silicon core comprises two layers of silicon-based material. An interspace is formed between two adjacent layers among the layers of silicon-based material, where the silicon-based material comprises silicon or silicon oxides. The graphene quantum dots are located in the interspace between the layers of silicon-based material. The graphene quantum dots are located on an outer surface of the layered silicon core. A coating layer is coated on an outer surface of the layered silicon core. USE - Electrode material for a battery. ADVANTAGE - The material avoids a problem of a silicon negative electrode material in a battery easily becoming a powder when in a fully intercalated state.
