NOVELTY - A connector comprises an electrical contact material (1) containing a metal base material (2) and a conductive coating layer (3) on a surface of the base material. The coating layer contains a matrix phase (31) made of a metal other than gold, and a phase (32) containing elongated portions (321) extending in a depth direction from a surface of the matrix phase and enlarged diameter portions (322) extending in the surface of the matrix phase from the elongated portions along the surface. The phase (32) is made of gold or a non-metallic conductive material having oxidizing property less than the metal that forms the matrix phase. USE - Connector e.g. male connector and plug connector for connecting electric wires to each other or for connecting electric wire to electric device. ADVANTAGE - The connector has excellent oxidation resistance, and conductivity maintained for long time. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for manufacture of the connector.
