NOVELTY - Preparation of catalyst involves soaking shell powder and attapulgite soil in acid solution, filtering to obtain activator, carrying out hydrothermal reaction of soluble cerium salt, tantalum pentachloride, graphene oxide, hydrazine hydrate, water and activator in confined environment, filtering to produce hydrothermal product, soaking hydrothermal product in aqueous solution of molybdate, drying and calcining. USE - Preparation of catalyst for photodegradation of polyester fibers. ADVANTAGE - The catalyst is prepared by simple method using easily available raw materials, and has excellent catalytic efficiency for photodegradation of polyester fiber. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparation of catalyst involves soaking shell powder and attapulgite soil in acid solution at 45-60 degrees C for 40-60 minutes, filtering to obtain activator, carrying out hydrothermal reaction of soluble cerium salt, tantalum pentachloride, graphene oxide, hydrazine hydrate, water and activator at 140-160 degrees C for 16-20 hours in confined environment, filtering to produce hydrothermal product, soaking hydrothermal product in aqueous solution of molybdate in a weight ratio of 100:150-200 at 70-85 degrees C for 5-7 hours, drying at 100-120 degrees C for 2-3 hours and calcining at 380-420 degrees C for 60-80 minutes. The weight ratio of shell powder, attapulgite soil and acid is 100:42-56:200-300. The weight ratio of soluble cerium salt, tantalum pentachloride, graphene oxide, hydrazine hydrate, water and activator is 100:30-45:8-10:25-33:300-500:60-85. The aqueous molybdate solution has molybdate concentration of 30-40 wt.%.
