NOVELTY - An elastomeric composition comprises elastomer(s), 0.1-50 phr primary filler(s), and secondary filler(s) (optional). The filler is carbon nanostructures, fragments of carbon nanostructures and/or fractured multiwalled carbon nanotubes (111). The carbon nanostructures or carbon nanostructure fragments comprise multiwalled carbon nanotubes which are crosslinked into a branched, interdigitated, entangled and/or common walls-sharing polymeric structure. The fractured multiwalled carbon nanotubes are derived from carbon nanostructures, and are branched and share common walls with each other. USE - Elastomeric composition for manufacturing articles e.g. tire tread, tire sidewall, o-rings, gaskets, membranes, valves, hydraulic seals, swelling packings, blowout preventers, oil-resistant hose liners, wire harnesses, battery cables, turbo hoses, molded air lines, brake units, washers, radiator, hydraulic hoses, transmission gaskets, engine or chassis vibration-resistant mounts, constant speed connecting portions, engine gaskets and power system components (all claimed). Can also be used for motor mounting sockets, conveyor belts, wiper blades, wheels, bumpers, bulldozers, seismic stabilizers, chute liners, plungers, agitators, etc. ADVANTAGE - The composition has excellent mechanical and/or electrical properties even after using small amount of fillers. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) preparation of the elastomeric composition, which involves combining elastomer(s), primary filler(s) and secondary filler(s) (optional) to form the composition; (2) preparation of a composite, which involves charging a mixer with solid elastomer(s) and a wet filler comprising primary filler(s) and at least 50 wt.% liquid with respect to total wet filler, mixing the solid elastomer(s) and the wet filler to form a mixture, removing at least portion of the liquid from the mixture by evaporation, removing the composite comprising primary filler(s) dispersed in elastomer from the mixer. The composite has a liquid content of 20 wt.% or less with respect to total weight of the composite; (3) preparation of vulcanizate, which involves curing the prepared composite in the presence of at least one curing agent; and (4) article, which comprises the vulcanizate.
