▎ 摘 要
NOVELTY - The battery has an aluminum alloy negative electrode (12), a positive electrode (14), an electrolyte (15), a negative current collector (18), and a positive current collector (16) that are arranged together. The electrolyte comprises a salt mixture of aluminum chloride and alkali chloride. The electrolyte is configured to form a molten salt that physically contacts and wets the positive electrode and the negative electrode during battery operation. A sulfur composite is formed by grinding and heat soaking a mixture of sulfur and graphene or carbon black, where the sulfur is present in the sulfur composite at an areal loading of 1.5-2 mg cm 2, melting temperature of the salt mixture is about 70-140 C, and the positive electrode comprises selenium. USE - Rechargeable aluminum-chalcogen battery for portable electronic devices and electric vehicles. ADVANTAGE - The battery has reduces processing cost, is charged and recharged over multiple cycles, and uses molten salts at modestly elevated temperatures, and has superior reaction kinetics and reversibility compared to those of previously described cells that operate at room temperature thanks to the use of expensive ionic liquids with large organic cations and halide anions which serve as the electrolyte. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a method for generating electric current in a rechargeable aluminum-chalcogen battery. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - The drawing shows a schematic view of the rechargeable aluminum-chalcogen battery.
