NOVELTY - Battery comprises silicon-dominant anode, electrolyte, and cathode, where the cathode comprises an active material and phthalocyanine additive coordinated with metal cationic center and electrochemically active functional groups. USE - Lithium-ion battery. ADVANTAGE - The electrical conductivity of silicon anode electrodes may be manipulated by incorporating conductive additives with different morphological properties. Carbon black (SuperP), vapor grown carbon fibers (VGCF), graphite, graphene, etc. and/or a mixture of these have previously been incorporated separately into the anode electrode resulting in improved performance of the anode. The synergistic interactions between the two carbon materials may facilitate electrical contact throughout the large volume changes of the silicon anode during charge and discharge.
