NOVELTY - Systems (100), comprise either: a layer (106) comprising graphene, in which the layer has a first surface and a second, opposed surface, a light-absorbing complex (112) coupled to the first surface of the layer, and an electron donor (114); or a first substrate layer comprising at least one aperture, the layer comprising graphene which fully covers the aperture, the light-absorbing complex, and the electron donor. USE - The systems are useful for catalyzing the formation of diatomic hydrogen gas. ADVANTAGE - The systems provide a clean, renewable energy source. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for catalyzing the formation of diatomic hydrogen gas, comprising providing the system and exposing the system to light.
