NOVELTY - Membrane is prepared by selecting base membrane i.e. polyolefin porous membrane, depositing graphene oxide quantum dots on the surface of the base membrane with the aid of dopamine, performing condensation reaction with dopamine and obtaining hydrophilic modified layer of graphene oxide quantum dots. USE - The membrane is useful for oil-water separation. ADVANTAGE - The membrane is hydrophilic, has excellent self-cleaning and antifouling properties and degrades organic pollutants attached to the surface and effectively kills bacteria under visible light irradiation. The membrane is suitable for rapid separation of various oil-water layer mixtures and oil-in-water emulsions with stable surface activity, and has good anti-pollution performance and cycle stability. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for method for preparing the membrane, which involves (a) soaking the polyolefin base membrane in 1-3 g/l dopamine solution with a pH of 8.5 for 15-25 minutes, self-assembling to form a polydopamine modified layer, and washing with water to obtain a dopamine modified porous base membrane, (b) immersng the dopamine-modified porous base membrane prepared in 0.01-2 %mass aqueous graphene oxide quantum dot suspension for 10-30 minutes, and depositing a graphene oxide quantum dot layer on the surface of the base membrane to prepare a quantum dot deposition membrane and (c) immersing the deposited quantum dot membrane prepared in step (2) in morpholine ethanesulfonic acid buffer solution containing 1-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-3-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC) and N-hydroxyl succinimide (NHS) and having pH value of 4-6.5 and performing activation reaction at room temperature for 1-10 hours.
