NOVELTY - Preparation of two-dimensional reduced graphene oxide/rod-like cerium oxide/carbon nitride nanosheet hierarchical structure composite photocatalyst involves preparing graphene oxide solution, dispersing carbon nitride nanosheet and rod-like cerium oxide in a methanol solution, respectively, ultrasonically processing, obtaining suspension, adding methanol solution of rod-like cerium oxide to the methanol solution of carbon nitride nanosheet, stirring at room temperature, drying, obtaining rod-like cerium oxide/carbon nitride nanosheet binary composite photocatalyst, dispersing the rod-like cerium oxide/carbon nitride nanosheet binary composite photocatalyst in deionized water, adding graphene oxide solution, stirring at room temperature, reacting, and drying the reaction product. USE - Preparation of two-dimensional reduced graphene oxide/rod-like cerium oxide/carbon nitride nanosheet hierarchical structure composite photocatalyst used for reducing carbon dioxide under ultraviolet light (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method enables preparation of two-dimensional reduced graphene oxide/rod-like cerium oxide/carbon nitride nanosheet hierarchical structure composite photocatalyst by simple and environmentally-friendly process. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparation of two-dimensional reduced graphene oxide/rod-like cerium oxide/carbon nitride nanosheet hierarchical structure composite photocatalyst involves preparing graphene oxide solution, dispersing carbon nitride nanosheet and rod-like cerium oxide in a methanol solution, respectively, ultrasonically processing, obtaining suspension, adding methanol solution of rod-like cerium oxide to the methanol solution of carbon nitride nanosheet, stirring at room temperature, drying, obtaining rod-like cerium oxide/carbon nitride nanosheet binary composite photocatalyst, dispersing the rod-like cerium oxide/carbon nitride nanosheet binary composite photocatalyst in deionized water, adding graphene oxide solution, stirring at room temperature, reacting, and drying the reaction product. The carbon nitride nanosheet is prepared by adding predetermined amount of cyanuric acid to a covered crucible, placing the crucible in a muffle furnace, calcining, cooling calcined product to room temperature, and collecting a pale yellow sample. The rod-like cerium oxide is prepared by dissolving cerium nitrate hexahydrate and sodium hydroxide, respectively in deionized water, ultrasonically processing, transferring obtained mixture to a Teflon (RTM: polytetrafluoroethylene)-lined stainless steel reactor, placing the reactor in an oven, reacting, naturally cooling to room temperature, washing several times with deionized water and ethanol, and drying. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for two-dimensional reduced graphene oxide/rod-like cerium oxide/carbon nitride nanosheet hierarchical structure composite photocatalyst. The rod-like cerium oxide is randomly distributed between reduced graphene oxide and carbon nitride nanosheet.
