NOVELTY - Preparing modified titanium dioxide catalytic film comprises e.g. (i) placing the titanium dioxide particles and graphene oxide in a tube furnace, heating to 500 degrees C, calcining in an argon atmosphere for 2.5 hours, adding it into container A filled with distilled water, and stirring; (ii) adding o-phenylenediamine to container B, adding distilled water, stirring ultrasonically for 30 minutes to promote its dissolution, pouring the solution into the o-phenylenediamine aqueous solution, stirring, centrifuging and drying to obtain modified titanium dioxide powder; and (iii) pouring polyvinyl alcohol into beaker A, adding 200 ml deionized water, stirring, adding the modified titanium dioxide powder obtained in step (ii) into beaker B, adding 150 ml deionized water, stirring, placing it in a vacuum drying oven, vacuumizing and degassing at room temperature for 5 hours, casting the obtained composite sol onto the mirror surface and drying. USE - The modified titanium dioxide catalytic film is useful in light degradation of para-hydroxydiphenyl ether (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method: is simple, environmentally-friendly and useful for large-scale industrial production; and provides high degradation efficacy of organic dye wastewater in the visible light range. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing modified titanium dioxide catalytic film comprises (i) placing the titanium dioxide particles and graphene oxide in a tube furnace, heating to 500 degrees C, calcining in an argon atmosphere for 2.5 hours, waiting to air to room temperature, taking it out, adding it into container A filled with distilled water, and stirring ultrasonically to make it evenly dispersed within 40 minutes; (ii) adding o-phenylenediamine to container B, adding distilled water, where the mass ratio of o-phenylenediamine to distilled water is 1:10-12, stirring ultrasonically for 30 minutes to promote its dissolution, pouring the solution in step (i) into the o-phenylenediamine aqueous solution under dark conditions, stirring slowly at 20-80 degrees C for 24-36 hours, centrifuging and drying to obtain modified titanium dioxide powder; and and (iii) pouring polyvinyl alcohol into beaker A, adding 200 ml deionized water, stirring at 95-100 degrees C to fully dissolve, adding the modified titanium dioxide powder obtained in step (ii) to beaker B, adding 150 ml deionized water, stirring at room temperature to make it fully dispersed, pouring slowly it into the polyvinyl alcohol solution, stirring ultrasonically for 2 hours, placing it in a vacuum drying oven, vacuumizing and degassing at room temperature for 5 hours, casting the obtained composite sol onto the mirror surface and drying, the mass ratio of polyvinyl alcohol to modified titanium dioxide powder is 1:0.13-0.19, and the concentration of the polyvinyl alcohol solution is 260-420 g/liter
