NOVELTY - System (100) for generating graphene (120) in a magnetic field, comprises: liquid reaction chamber configured to receive working liquid source, carbon atom source and catalyst to cause chemical reaction and resulting reactant liquid; graphene generation chamber (104) configured to receive resulting reactant liquid, where graphene generation chamber is configured to generate graphene film (116), and comprises growth portion, recovery portion and magnetic structure; and graphene seed source (118) to provide graphene seed to initial location within growth portion of graphene generation chamber. USE - The system is useful for generating graphene in a magnetic field. ADVANTAGE - The system enables continuous growth of graphene film floating over magnetic field by utilizing the chemical reaction that produces ring structures having starved carbon atoms at a desired rate. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - System (100) for generating graphene (120) in a magnetic field, comprises: a liquid reaction chamber configured to receive a working liquid source, a carbon atom source, and a catalyst to cause a chemical reaction in the reaction chamber and a resulting reactant liquid comprising ring structures having starved carbon atoms; a graphene generation chamber (104) coupled to the liquid reaction chamber and configured to receive the resulting reactant liquid as it exits the liquid reaction chamber, where the graphene generation chamber is configured to generate a graphene film (116) from the ring structures as part of a polymerization process, and comprises a growth portion, a recovery portion and a magnetic structure comprising a two-dimensional array of alternating polarity magnetic sources, where the magnetic structure produces a magnetic field having a magnetic field gradient sufficient to float the graphene film over the magnetic structure, where the magnetic structure extends from the growth portion to the recovery portion; and a graphene seed source (118) configured to provide a graphene seed to an initial location over the magnetic field within the growth portion of the graphene generation chamber, where the graphene film is generated over the magnetic field so that the graphene film floats over the magnetic field due to the graphene film being diamagnetic, the ring structures cause the floating graphene film to grow continuously from the initial location, the graphene generation chamber is configured so that the floating graphene film moves away from the initial location and through the graphene generation chamber until it exits the recovery portion of the graphene generation chamber as a recovered graphene product.
