NOVELTY - The pressure vessel (1) consists of a coating comprising a graphene or graphene compound that is applied as a permeation barrier layer (3) on an inner side of a component main portion made of plastic. The graphene compound is comprised of a graphene oxide. The permeation barrier layer is directly positioned on a load-bearing container wall (2) consisting of a fiber composite material. A liner (3) is provided on the load-bearing container wall, such that the permeation barrier layer is directly positioned on the liner. USE - Component for use as pressure vessel, pipe or fitting of tank system for storing gaseous or liquid media such as hydrogen and natural gas, and as housing, lid or seal of fuel cell system (all claimed) for use in automotive sector. ADVANTAGE - The component has high gas impermeability with good mechanical properties and low weight, and cost-effective manufacturing process. The required tightness of metal is ensured comprehensively by the coating comprising graphene or graphene compound. The component has low permeability, good mechanical and thermal properties for production processes with high volumes. The thin construction of liners is realized. The subsequent coating of the pressure vessel is possible without liner. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for manufacture of a component.
