NOVELTY - A fuel cell electrode composition comprises a metal catalyst and an ionomer binder adsorbed on the surface of a carbon-based support. The ionomer is ionomer particles nano-dispersed in a mixed solvent containing alcohol and water under supercritical conditions. USE - Composition used for forming membrane-electrode assembly of fuel cell (all claimed) e.g. polymer electrolyte fuel cell. ADVANTAGE - The fuel cell electrode composition has excellent gas permeation characteristics, mass transfer characteristics, electrochemical properties and durability, and improves unit cell performance. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) manufacture of electrode composition; (2) membrane-electrode assembly; and (3) fuel cell.
