NOVELTY - The apparatus (100) has an assembly comprising a shaft (102) and an enclosed container (104) that is energized to cause motion of the enclosed container. The container comprises a substrate material (108) and graphite material within the container, the motion causing the coating of the surfaces of the substrate material with the graphite material, the coated surfaces comprises graphene or graphene layers. The container comprises an inner surface composed of the graphite material. The coating is based on friction between the substrate material and graphite material of the inner surface. USE - Mechanical apparatus for producing graphene. ADVANTAGE - The container size or environment where implemented is not limited to suitability with or integration with a planetary mixer, and hence is placed in or integral to any apparatus that causes motion to enable friction contact between substrate material and graphite material.
