▎ 摘 要
NOVELTY - A composition comprises an alkylamine modified graphene (A) with trace amounts of both an oxygen functional group and a nitrogen functional group coupled to the graphene core, where the alkylamine functional group is -CH2-(n-propylamine), -CH2-(n-hexylamine), or -CH2-(n-dodecylamine). USE - Composition is useful as filtration media for absorbing hydrocarbon from a hydrocarbon contaminated water. ADVANTAGE - The weight ratio of alkylamine functional group to graphene core increases hydrophobicity of the alkylamine modified graphene, thus contributing to absorption capacity properties. The absorption capacity of the alkylamine modified graphene is stable at conditions such as batch or dynamic mode (to treat water with flow rate). Longer (or larger) nanosheets may be stable mechanically and thermally, while providing good separation efficiency, as compared to nanosheets of a smaller size range. For example, the alkylamine modified graphene nanosheets of provide separation efficiency of ≥75%, such as ≥95%. The alkylamine modified graphene provides a water rejection of ≥95%, preferably 100%. The composition include absorption capacity, oil absorption, and separation efficiency. The method is simple and easily scaled up to large batch fabrication (≥100 times compared to the small or lab scale tests in the examples). DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A composition comprises: an alkylamine modified graphene having a formula (R-CH2-(alkylamine) x (A) with trace amounts of both an oxygen functional group and a nitrogen functional group coupled to the graphene core. The alkylamine functional group is -CH2-(n-propylamine), -CH2-(n-hexylamine), or -CH2-(n-dodecylamine). (R = a graphene core, and x = non-zero integer, preferably 1-12). INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) a method to use an alkylamine modified graphene, which involves introducing the alkylamine modified graphene into a hydrocarbon-contaminated water such that a hydrocarbon-absorbed alkylamine modified graphene and a recovered water form, where the hydrocarbon-contaminated water comprises water and a hydrocarbon; and separating the hydrocarbon-absorbed alkylamine modified graphene from the recovered water, where the hydrocarbon is associated with the hydrocarbon-absorbed alkylamine modified graphene; and (2) a system, which comprises a holding tank configured to contain fluid, a pump coupled to and downstream of the holding tank, a membrane housing coupled to and downstream of the pump, where the membrane housing includes two or more membranes and a filtration media between the two or more membranes, and filtration media is an alkylamine modified graphene, a collection tank coupled to and downstream of the membrane housing.
