NOVELTY - The switch has multi-layer graphene arrays that are arranged in parallel manner. An insulating dielectric layer is arranged between two adjacent layers of graphene arrays. Each graphene array is attached to a surface of the insulating dielectric layer and provided with multiple graphene units. The graphene units are arranged to form a periodic two-dimensional structure. The multi-layer graphene arrays are overlapped to obtain multiple resonance peaks of different frequencies to obtain a wider absorption bandwidth, where on and off of input electromagnetic wave of corresponding frequency is controlled to achieve switching function. USE - Periodic graphene structure absorption characteristics based terahertz switch. ADVANTAGE - The switch is simple to operate, and has wide application range, and reduces energy consumption, increases switching speed due to high-electron mobility characteristic of graphene, electrically switches ON/OFF state of a switch unit, and effectively changes length of the graphene unit of the graphene array to obtain input waves and output waves of terahertz waves, microwaves and infrared and visible light. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a method for controlling terahertz switch based on periodic graphene structure absorption characteristics.
