NOVELTY - Production of a silicon-carbon composite material involves mixing silicon particles and at least one carbon compound, and dispersant, and thermal processing the mixture by heat-treating the mixture at a temperature which corresponds to at least the conversion temperature of the carbon compound, preferably 120-700 degrees C, more preferably 120-350 degrees C to obtain a thermally processed intermediate, and heat-treating the thermally processed intermediate product at 750 degrees C. USE - Preparation of silicon-carbon composite material used as anode material in battery cell (all claimed) e.g. lithium-ion secondary battery. ADVANTAGE - The method enables preparation of silicon-carbon composite material, and provides battery with excellent durability, and charge/discharge characteristics.
