NOVELTY - Formation of graphene material involves reducing a transition metal oxide to a transition metal electrolytically in an electrolytic cell (400) using a molten salt electrolyte (410) and a carbon anode (430), and extracting a dry graphene material from the electrolytic cell. USE - Formation of graphene material used as anode or cathode in secondary battery (all claimed). Can also be used in electrodes for fuel cells, super-capacitors and lithium-ion or sodium-ion batteries for electronic devices. ADVANTAGE - The method is easy, reliable, environmentally-friendly, increases the yield of the material, and produces the material with improved quality.
