▎ 摘 要

NOVELTY - A golf club head is formed by casting unfinished version of main component (60), which has strikeface (62), return (64), and sole extension (70), from metallic material and removing majority of reduced thickness region to complete main component; providing mold comprising top mold half, bottom mold half, and slide, where top mold half forms top reservoir, bottom mold half comprises bottom reservoir and center ballast, and slide has fork and lock; injection molding wrap-around component (100), which has crown section (110), toe wing (130), and heel wing (150), by drying composite material, heating into molten state, closing mold to create mold cavity in the shape of wrap-around component, injecting molten composite material into mold cavity of the mold, allowing composite material to solidify into the wrap-around component, and ejecting the wrap-around component from the mold; and joining the wrap-around component to the main component to form the golf club head. USE - Formation of golf club head. ADVANTAGE - The injection molding process, enabled by the geometry of the wrap-around component, creates a component of high strength and low weight. Furthermore, the injection molding process can reduce production times. Forming portions of the crown and sole from a composite material can improve the acoustic response of the golf club head upon impact with a golf ball. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A golf club head is formed by providing main component by casting unfinished version of main component, which has reduced thickness region and a lip, from metallic material and removing majority of the reduced thickness region to complete the main component; providing mold comprising top mold half, bottom mold half, and slide, where top mold half forms top reservoir and has sprue and gate which connects to top reservoir, bottom mold half comprises bottom reservoir and center ballast, and slide comprises a fork and a lock; injection molding wrap-around component by drying composite material, heating into molten state, closing mold to create mold cavity in the shape of wrap-around component, injecting molten composite material into mold cavity of the mold, allowing composite material to solidify into the wrap-around component, and ejecting the wrap-around component from the mold; and joining the wrap-around component to the main component to form the golf club head. Golf club head comprises front end, rear end, toe end, heel end, crown, sole, and skirt connecting the crown and the sole; and main component comprises strikeface, a return, and a sole extension. Return extends rearward from the strikeface and forms a portion of the sole and a portion of the crown; sole extension extends from the return to the rear end of the club head along the sole; and wrap-around component comprises a crown section, a toe wing, and a heel wing. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - The drawing shows an exploded, perspective view of the wrap-around component being assembled onto the main component to form the golf club head.
