NOVELTY - Catalyst comprises carrier and metal nanoparticles with plasmon resonance effect under light excitation, where the carrier is material having light absorbing properties. USE - The catalyst is useful for selective catalytic hydrogenation of unsaturated alkynes driven by light to heat (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The catalyst has high catalytic activity in selective hydrogenation reactions. The method is simple, feasible and environmentally friendly. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for selective catalytic hydrogenation of unsaturated alkynes driven by light-to-heat conversion, comprising installing catalyst in light-transmitting reactor at least on one side, passing reaction gas of selective catalytic hydrogenation of unsaturated alkynes, irradiating catalyst in reactor through light-transmitting surface of reactor by light source to carry out photo-to-heat selective catalytic hydrogenation reaction, converting alkynes and/or polyolefins in reaction gas into mono-olefins, and realizing selective catalytic hydrogenation of unsaturated alkynes.
