NOVELTY - Fluid comprises: a base fluid comprising a non-aqueous fluid and/or an aqueous fluid, and nanoparticles comprising graphene nanoparticles, graphene platelets, graphene oxide, electrically conductive nanorods and/or electrically conductive nanoplatelets; and the base fluid, the nanoparticles, where the nanoparticles are functionalized nanoparticles, chemically-modified nanoparticles and/or covalently modified nanoparticles, and a surfactant in an amount effective to suspend the nanoparticles in the base fluid, where the fluid has a resistivity of 0.02-1000000 Ohm-m. USE - The fluid is useful: in drilling, completion, production and remediation of subterranean oil and gas wells; and for resistivity imaging, repairing a damaged well and breaking emulsions. ADVANTAGE - The fluid improves the electrical conductivity of drilling fluids, completion fluids and servicing fluids, and enhances the performance of resistivity logging tools. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) improving the electrical conductivity of the fluid, comprising adding nanoparticles to the base fluid; and (2) a method-1 for modifying the electrical properties of the fluid, comprising adding nanoparticles to the base fluid, where the nanoparticles are graphene nanoparticles, graphene platelets, electrically-conductive nanotubes, electrically-conductive nanorods and/or electrically-conductive nanoplatelets, adding the surfactant, and dispersing the nanoparticles in the base fluid.
