NOVELTY - The method for synthesis of trimanganese tetroxide /graphene composite adsorbent, involves (1) mixing graphite powder, concentrated sulfuric acid and potassium permanganate to carry out oxidation reaction to obtain graphite oxide slurry product, adding deionized water and hydrogen peroxide to obtained graphite slurry product to reduce unreacted potassium permanganate, obtaining graphene oxide suspension, (2) adjusting the pH of obtained graphene oxide suspension to alkaline to obtain reaction product (II), (3) evaporating to obtain solid product (III), and subjecting solid product (III) to thermal reduction to obtain crude product, (4) washing the crude product with deionized water to remove impurities and drying to obtain final product. The mass ratio of graphite powder, concentrated sulfuric acid and potassium permanganate is 1:30-70:(4-5). USE - Method for synthesis of trimanganese tetroxide /graphene composite adsorbent used for uranium-containing wastewater treatment, natural water system uranium treatment or seawater uranium extraction treatment (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method enables synthesis of trimanganese tetroxide /graphene composite adsorbent with high equilibrium adsorption amount for uranyl ions, and low production cost, avoids complicated post-treatment purification process, and fully utilizes the manganese element of potassium permanganate in the raw material to reduce the discharge of heavy metal wastewater.
