NOVELTY - Flame retardant composite material comprises polymer based graphene composite (graphene-functionalized polyaniline or graphene-functionalized polypyrrole). USE - Used as flame retardant composite material. ADVANTAGE - The polymer functionalized graphene composite material: when treated on a cloth, the cloth exhibits a higher limiting oxygen index percentage as compared to blank cloth with the flame retardant liquid (claimed); improves flame retardant characteristics of fabric and wood; and can be easily synthesized via environmentally benign and cost-effective route as compared to conventional methods. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for manufacturing the polymer based flame retardant composite material comprising dispersing 100 mg graphene oxide in 1 mg/ml in 100 ml deionized water and adding 1 ml phosphoric acid, adding 1 ml aniline/1 ml pyrrole and stirring for 10 minutes, adding 3 g of ferric chloride as oxidizing agent and then stirring the mixture for 2 hours at room temperature, and then maintaining the mixture at around 70 degrees C for 2 hours to obtain the nanocomposite.
