NOVELTY - A pellet comprises carbonaceous composite body which is formed by magnetic particle of metal oxide dispersed in carbon matrix containing graphene sheet in which number ratios (Metal/C) of metal atom with respect to number of carbon atoms are 0.0005-0.5, and saturation magnetization is greater than or equal to 5 emu/g. USE - Pellet used for adsorbent for removing to-be-adsorbed substance (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - Handleability of carbonaceous composite body is favorable. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) adsorbent comprising pellet; (2) manufacture of pellet which involves mixing greater than or equal to 1 metal salt chosen from iron salt, cobalt salt, and nickel salt, and water-soluble polysaccharide in presence of water, carbonizing obtained mixture and obtaining carbonaceous composite body, molding obtained carbonaceous composite body, and heating molded carbonaceous composite body in inert gas atmosphere; and (3) removal of to-be-adsorbed substance which involves collecting adsorbents by magnetic force after making to-be-adsorbed substance and liquid containing to-be-adsorbed substance contact, and adsorbing to-be-adsorbed substance.
