▎ 摘 要
NOVELTY - Porous shaped carbon monolith is obtained from whey powder with a humidity of 2-10 wt.%, and has a porosity of 50-85%, a macropores with a size of 50-500 mu m, a mesopores with a size of 2-50 nm, micropores with a size of 0.1-2 nm, and 1-4 wt.% nitrogen. USE - Porous shaped carbon monolith as a scaffold for growth of cellular tissues, preferably bones or cartilage, as a molecular sieve or filter for chemical compounds present in gaseous streams or liquid effluents, and a catalyst support or catalyst (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The porous shaped carbon monolith provides great industrial interest as catalyst supports, gas and liquid filters, gas storage structures, electrode manufacturing structures, has excellent adsorption capacities and mass transfer strengths, allows working with much higher gas or liquid flows, increases productivity of the process. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for manufacturing porous shaped carbon monolith, which involves: (A) shaping whey powder with the help of mold; (B) sintering the obtained product at 300-3000 degrees C in presence of an inert gas selected from nitrogen, argon and helium; (C) generating micropores by impregnating the obtained product with an activating agent selected from potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, potassium carbonate, sodium carbonate, zinc chloride and phosphoric acid; and (D) putting into contact the obtained product under oxidizing atmosphere selected from water vapor or carbon dioxide.
