NOVELTY - Ternary cathode composite material comprises a shell coated on the surface of a core including first coating and second coating, where the first coating is a 3D nano-network layered structure having a conductive polymer, graphene or carbon nanotube composite and a hydrogen-containing lithium titanium oxide compound and open-framework iron fluoride dispersed in situ on the surface of the composite and the second coating is a carbonized product of polyvinyl alcohol. USE - The composite material is useful in lithium ion batteries (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The lithium ion battery: has high ion conductivity and electronic conductivity; ensures outstanding advantages e.g. specific discharge capacity, first-time Coulombic efficiency and good cycle stability. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for preparing ternary cathode composite material comprises (i) dissolving polyvinyl alcohol in solvent to obtain solution A, (ii) adding first coating into solution A and mixing uniformly to obtain solution B, (iii) adding ternary cathode material into solution B to obtain slurry C and (iv) carrying out microwave treatment on slurry C at 300-500 degrees C to obtain the product.
