NOVELTY - Composition comprises: (a) at least one particulate electrode-forming material; (b) a polymeric binder, comprising, as polymerized monomers;(c) 0-40 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one crosslinking agent capable of reacting with the polymeric binder (b); (d) 0-10 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one wetting agent; (e) 0-10 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one dispersing agent, (f) 0-10 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one volatile organic compound (VOC), and/or adhesion promoter, and/or coalescent agent; (g) 0-200 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one rheology modifier additive; and (h) 0-10 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one additive comprising anti setting agent, and/or surfactant. USE - The composition is useful as an electrode on a current collector within an energy storage device containing a non-aqueous electrolyte (claimed), e.g. lithium-ion batteries used as power sources for consumer electronics, electric vehicles, and power tools. ADVANTAGE - The electrode forming composition has improved energy density, and durability, and improves battery energy density and overall performance of the battery. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Composition comprises: (a) at least one particulate electrode-forming material; (b) a polymeric binder, comprising, as polymerized monomers (i) 10-99 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one non-ionic monoethylenically unsaturated monomer; (ii) 0.5-42 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one oxyalkylated monomer of formula (R-(CH2-CH(R1)-O)m-CH2-CH(R2)-O)n-(CH2-CH(R3)-O)pq-R4) (I), with ethylenic unsaturation and terminated by hydrogen or an aryl or alkyl chain, (iii) 0- 50 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one ethylenically unsaturated ionic monomer comprising at least one functional group comprising carboxylate, sulfonate, sulfate, phosphate, phosphonate, and/or acid, and/or salt, and/or anhydride forms, (iv) 0-10 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one monomer comprising at least two ethylenic unsaturations, (v) 0-10 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer comprising at least one functional group comprising N-methylol amide, N-alkylol amide, hydroxy group, epoxy, silane, and/or keto, and (vi) 0-30 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer comprising at least one functional group comprising silane, ureido, amine, and/or hydroxy group, where the polymeric binder (b) has a Tg of ≤ 55° C and/or a minimum film forming temperature of ≤ 25° C, and the total of components (b) (i) through (b) (vi) add up to 100 wt.% polymeric binder (b); (c) 0-40 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one crosslinking agent capable of reacting with the polymeric binder (b); (d) 0-10 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one wetting agent; (e) 0-10 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one dispersing agent; (f) 0-10 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one volatile organic compound (VOC), and/or adhesion promoter, and/or coalescent agent; (g) 0-200 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one rheology modifier additive; and (h) 0-10 wt.% polymeric binder of at least one additive comprising anti setting agent, and/or surfactant. m, n, p=0-150, where sum of m, n, p is greater than 1; q=1, preferably (sum of m, n, p)q is 3-150; R1-R3=H, CH or CH CH ; R4=H, alkyl chain with 1-60C atoms or aryl chain with 5-60C atoms; and R=at least one polymerizable olefmic unsaturation, preferably acrylate, methacrylate, acrylurethane, methacrylur ethane, vinyl, allyl, methallyl, isoprenyl, an unsaturated urethane group, methacrylurethane, α ,α '-dimethyl-isopropenyl-benzylurethane, allylurethane, esters of maleic acid, esters of itaconic acid, esters of crotonic acid. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: electrode comprising an electroconductive substrate coated on at least one surface with the composition; device comprising the electrode comprising a non-aqueous-type battery, a capacitor, and a membrane electrode assembly; kit comprising the electrode forming composition, where the at least one crosslinking agent (c) is combined with the polymeric binder (b) to form a first component of the kit, and particulate electrode-forming material (a) comprises a second component of the kit; and kit comprising the composition, where the (a) at least one particulate electrode-forming material comprises a first component of the kit, the polymeric binder (b) comprises a second component of the kit, and the at least one crosslinking agent (c) comprises a third component of the kit.
