NOVELTY - Star-type carboxylic acid-based amphoteric compounds (I) are new. USE - (I) are useful as graphene dispersant and clay stabilizer (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - (I) have: increased hydration ability and thermal stability. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Star-type carboxylic acid-based amphoteric compounds (substituted 11-((3-((4-carboxylato-3-(carboxylatomethyl)-3-methylbutyl)bis(carboxylatomethyl)ammonio)propanoyloxy)methyl)-2,5,5,17,17,20-hexakis(carboxylatomethyl)-11-ethyl-2,20-dimethyl-8,14-dioxo-9,13-dioxa-2,5,17,20-tetraazoniahenicosane-2,5,17,20-tetraium-1,21-dicarboxylate) of formula (I) are new. R1 = -CH3 or -CH2CH3. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) preparation of (I); and (2) use of (I) as graphene dispersant and clay stabilizer, where mass ratio between graphene dispersant and graphene powder is 2-5:25.
