NOVELTY - Preparing modified montmorillonite for adsorbing volatile organic compounds comprises (i) crushing the montmorillonite, passing through 80-200 mesh sieve, and performing plasma treatment to obtain material A, (ii) adding material A into water, uniformly mixing, adding hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, reacting at 45-55 degrees C for 60-120 minutes, centrifuging, washing with water, and drying to obtain material B, (ii) mixing material B, dodecylamine and ethyl silicate, stirring at 45-55 degrees C for 2-3.5 hours, filtering, and drying to obtain material C, and (iv) treating material C with superheated steam at 300-450 degrees C for 30-45 minutes, and performing secondary plasma treatment and three plasma treatments in sequence to obtain material D. USE - The modified montmorillonite is useful for adsorbing volatile organic compounds.
