NOVELTY - Composite material comprises a multiple of silicon carbon particles comprising a nano silicon base film is embedded in a carbon base material and a carbon coating layer on the surface of the silicon carbon particles. The thickness of the nano silicon-based thin film is 0.1-50 nm. The middle value of the area of the nano-silicon-based thin film is greater than 10 nm2. The thickness of the carbon coating layer is 1 nm-1 µm. USE - The composite material is useful in cathode of lithium-ion batteries (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The composite material: has small size, uniform dispersion and small specific surface area; can reduce the number of cracks in the cathode; and has high stability, so that it consumes less active lithium during the first lithium insertion process and has a higher efficacy in the first week. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for preparing composite material using silicon source gas comprising silane and a diluent gas, or at least one of silicon tetrachloride, dichlorosilane, and trichlorosilane, and a diluent gas, the solid carbon source comprising isotropic coal tar pitch, isotropic petroleum pitch, mesophase pitch or polymer materials, or it is combined with graphite, carbon nanotubes, carbon fibers and graphene.
