NOVELTY - Nanocomposite photocatalyst is prepared from single-phase bismuth titanate. The preparation of nanocomposite photocatalyst involves mixing soluble bismuth salt and carboxylic acid in molar ratio of 1:50-70 with stirring until the bismuth salt is completely dissolved followed by the addition of titanic ester maintaining titanium and bismuth molar ratio of 1:8-13. The structural directing agent is added to the reactant mixture so that the molar ratio of bismuth and structure directing agent is 1:3. Urea is added such that bismuth and urea are in molar ratio of 1:0.5-3. USE - Nanocomposite photocatalyst. ADVANTAGE - The nanocomposite photocatalyst is prepared in simple, easy, cost effective and eco friendly manner under mild reaction condition. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Nanocomposite photocatalyst is prepared from single-phase bismuth titanate. Urea is added such that bismuth and urea are in molar ratio of 1:0.5-3 to obtain the first mixed solution which is injected into 25-45 ml of alcohol solvent followed by the addition of 0.5-2 g of graphene. The reactant mixture is transferred to the high-pressure reactor which is under 8-12 bar nitrogen pressure and then heated to 200-250 degrees C for 2-6 hours. The bismuth salt is completely hydrolyzed and then the vent valve of reactor is discharged to obtain the dried precursor. The precursor is roasted and crystallized to obtain metastable bismuth titanate which is evenly dispersed in graphene to obtain nanocomposite photocatalyst.
