NOVELTY - Ethyl p-hydroxybenzoate hydrogenation catalyst, comprises an active component and a carrier, where loading amount of the active component is 1-5 wt.%, and the active component is ruthenium metal. USE - Ethyl p-hydroxybenzoate hydrogenation catalyst for hydrogenation of ethyl p-hydroxybenzoate to 4-hydroxycyclohexanecarboxylate (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The catalyst enables to load metal ruthenium on the carrier by an impregnation method, and it has certain activity by a chemical reduction method, which provides good selectivity, has relatively low cost, and simple post-treatment. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: A method for preparing ethyl p-hydroxybenzoate hydrogenation catalyst, which involves mixing soluble ruthenium salt aqueous solution, carrier and water in proportion and stirring for 1-7 hours, adjusting the pH to 9.5-10.5, then adding excess reducing agent and heating up to 50-70℃ for reduction reaction for 30-90 minutes, then dropping to room temperature, filtering, washing and drying. A method for preparing ethyl p-hydroxybenzoate hydrogenation catalyst, which involves mixing the carrier with water, then adding dropwise soluble ruthenium salt aqueous solution within 1-5 hours under magnetic stirring, continuing stirring for reaction for 2 hours, adjusting pH to 10 with sodium hydroxide solution, adding excessive reducing agent within 20-30 minutes, heating at 50℃ at a rate of 2-3 ℃/min, reducing the reaction for 1 hours, cooling to room temperature, filtering, washing and drying.
