NOVELTY - Device (100) comprises: a constraining reservoir (106) configured to constrain feedstock (101), where the feedstock acts as a resistive electrical load, and the feedstock comprises a mass of at least 0.1 kg; many electrodes configured to transmit an electrical current through the feedstock to joule heat the feedstock; a compression system configured to compress the feedstock with a compression force to adjust feedstock electrical resistance; an alternating current (AC) power source (104) for providing AC electrical current to the electrodes; and at least one electrical controller (105) configured to control the electrical current delivered to the feedstock. USE - The device is useful for conversion of at least one feedstock to resultant material having a higher degree of crystallinity than the feedstock (claimed) e.g. industrial scale graphene production. ADVANTAGE - The device: provides constant force is more beneficial when the feedstock has low density and changes volume dramatically during the joule heating process; provides uniform joule heating of the feedstock; has design is ease in construction as well as continuous processing that increases the production throughput; provides fabrication of turbostratic graphene (TG) with large mass and high fabrication rate is suitable for large number of applications, small percent of TG in the composite material may improve the static and dynamic strength of the composite, thermal properties, durability, cyclability, degradation resistance, electrical properties, and acoustic properties and may be added to improve the performance of the composite.
