NOVELTY - Direct hydroxylation of benzene to phenol comprises using nano copper-graphene composite catalyst comprising nano copper and graphene at mass ratio of (0.05-30):1. USE - Direct hydroxylation of benzene to phenol. ADVANTAGE - The nano copper-graphene composite catalyst provides good catalytic effect for direct hydroxylation of benzene to phenol. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of nano copper graphene composite catalyst by ultrasonically dispersing oxidized graphite in alcohol/water system; dissolving bivalent soluble copper salt; adding alkali to adjust pH of solution at 8-10; uniformly stirring; transferring solution into reaction kettle; reacting; centrifuging; separating product; washing with deionized water; and drying to obtain nano copper graphene composite catalyst.
