NOVELTY - Composite material comprises hollow carbon spheres, molybdenum disulfide nanosheets and graphene. The molybdenum disulfide nanosheet is modified on the surface of a hollow carbon sphere. The hollow carbon sphere is supported in graphene. USE - Used as composite material. ADVANTAGE - The composite material: improves the conductivity of transition metal sulfides, and improves electrochemical performance as cathode material of lithium ion battery. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for preparing the composite material, comprising (i) obtaining a hollow carbon sphere, (ii) placing hollow carbon sphere in a solution containing organic ammonium salt to obtain surface carbon functionalized hollow carbon sphere, (iii) adding solution II containing graphene oxide into solution I containing surface carbon functionalized hollow carbon spheres and ammonium thiomolybdate to obtain mixture A, (d) reacting the mixture A at 170-190 degrees C for 8-16 hours to obtain precursor gel B, (e) placing the precursor gel B in a mixture of hydrogen and an inert gas, heating at 700-800 degrees C at heating rate of 1-3 degrees C/minute, and maintaining for 1-3 hours to obtain composite material. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for lithium ion battery, comprising composite material.
