NOVELTY - Method for preparing graphene oxide-bentonite composite particle retention filter aid, involves (a) preparing graphene oxide by (1a) slowly pouring concentrated sulfuric acid into a three-necked flask, placing in a water bath, stirring, adding graphite, stirring and slowly adding potassium permanganate, (2a) dissolving potassium permanganate, stirring, slowly adding deionized water, and stirring, and (3a) cooling the product, adding deionized water, dripping hydrogen peroxide, filtering, washing the filter cake with hydrochloric acid, washing with deionized water to neutrality, and adding the obtained product to deionized water and dispersing to obtain a graphene oxide dispersion, and (b) preparing the composite particle by (1b) mechanically crushing the bentonite ore, adding sodium carbonate to the crushed bentonite, adding water and reacting to obtain sodium modified bentonite particles, and (2b) adding graphene oxide dispersion, stirring and mixing, diluting, and processing. USE - The method is useful for preparing graphene oxide-bentonite composite particle retention filter aid. ADVANTAGE - The method introduces graphene oxide into the retention and drainage aid system for the first time to prepare graphene oxide-sodium modified bentonite composite particles, improves retention and drainage effect and slightly increases strength performance of paper. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Method for preparing graphene oxide-bentonite composite particle retention filter aid, involves (a) preparing graphene oxide by (1a) slowly pouring 5-50 ml 98% concentrated sulfuric acid into a three-necked flask, placing in a water bath, using a strong stirrer for stirring at 200-500 rpm, adding 300-1500 1 g mesh graphite, evenly stirring, continuously stirring for 0.5-2 hours, slowly adding 3-8 g potassium permanganate several times, and controlling the reaction temperature to below 25 degrees C, (2a) completely dissolving potassium permanganate, adjusting the temperature of the water bath to 35-45 degrees C, keep stirring for 2-4 hours, slowly adding 100 ml deionized water, adjusting the temperature of the water bath to 80-95 degrees C, and continuously stirring for 1-5 hours, and (3a) cooling the product to room temperature, adding 200 ml deionized water, gradually dripping 30% hydrogen peroxide until the color of the suspension turns to yellow, filtering, washing the filter cake with 10% hydrochloric acid to remove residual manganese ions and potassium ion, repeatedly washing with deionized water to neutrality, adding the obtained product to deionized water, adjusting the pH value to 8.5-10.5 with sodium hydroxide, and ultrasonically dispersing for 0.5-3 hours to obtain a graphene oxide dispersion, and (b) preparing the composite particle by (1b) mechanically crushing the bentonite ore to 200-600 mesh, adding sodium carbonate equivalent to 1-10 %mass of the bentonite into the crushed bentonite, adding water to make the concentration of bentonite within 5-75%, and reacting for 0.1-48 hours to obtain sodium modified bentonite particles, and (2b) adding graphene oxide dispersion equivalent to 1-30% of the bentonite mass ratio, stirring and mixing for 2-100 minutes, diluting to 0.05-5 %mass clean water, and ultrasonically processing for 0.5-2 hours to obtain the product. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for an application of the graphene oxide-bentonite composite particle retention filter aid in papermaking.
