NOVELTY - Preparation of ionic liquid functionalized graphene supported platinum catalyst involves: putting 0.02 g 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium dicyanamide ionic liquid and 0.04 g graphite oxide (GO) into a round bottom flask, adding 40 ml deionized water, and ultrasonically dispersing for 60 minutes to make it evenly dispersed; sequentially adding 1 ml 0.05 mol/l hexachloroplatinic(IV) acid hexahydrate solution and 0.4 ml 0.4 mol/l potassium hydroxide aqueous solution, and magnetically stirring for 3 hours to evenly mix; dripping 15 ml 4 mg/ml sodium borohydride, continuously carrying out magnetic stirring for 12 hours, and fully reducing GO and hexachloroplatinum(IV) ion to obtain reduced graphite oxide and platinum; and thoroughly washing the target product with deionized water and absolute ethanol, and vacuum drying at 60 degrees C for 12 hours. USE - The method is useful for preparing ionic liquid functionalized graphene supported platinum catalyst, which is useful for direct methanol fuel cell. ADVANTAGE - The catalyst has excellent methanol oxidation electrocatalytic activity, carbon monoxide poisoning resistance and stability.
