NOVELTY - Artifact comprises granules (20) each of which include graphene oxide nanosheets having lateral dimensions of 100-1000 nm. The granules have corrugated morphologies. USE - The artifact comprising granules is useful: for fabricating activated carbon-based electrodes for electrical components such as supercapacitors for energy storage; for water desalination, catalysis and sorption of oil or solvents; and as additives for polymeric or ceramic materials. ADVANTAGE - The artifact comprising granules can be thermally reduced at a moderate temperature of 220 degrees C under inert environment or in air thus increasing its electrical conductivity, exhibits controlled ultimate morphology, good chemical and electrochemical stability, electrical conductivity and high theoretical surface area, is effective, robust, scalable and safe to produce, and improves the power and energy density of the activated carbon-based electrodes. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparing granules of graphene oxide having corrugated morphologies, comprising dispersing graphite oxide and a structural modifier in an aqueous medium for forming an aqueous dispersion, atomizing the dispersion for forming a spray of droplets of the dispersion, and drying the droplets of the dispersion for forming granules including graphene oxide nanosheets.
