▎ 摘 要
NOVELTY - A composite molding material (10) comprises fibrous layer (12) and graphene/graphitic material (14) applied to fibrous layer at greater than or equal to 1 localized regions (R1, R2, R3, R4) over a surface (16) of fibrous layer. The material comprises graphene nanoplates, graphene oxide nanoplates, reduced graphene oxide nanoplates, bilayer graphene nanoplates, bilayer graphene oxide nanoplates, bilayer reduced graphene oxide nanoplates, graphene nanoplates with less layers, layer graphene oxide nanoplates with less layers, reduced graphene oxide nanoplates with less layers, graphene/graphite nanoplates of 6-14 layers of carbon atoms, graphite flakes with nanoscale dimensions and less than or equal to 40 layers of carbon atoms, graphite flakes with nanoscale dimensions and 25-30 layers of carbon atoms, graphite flakes with nanoscale dimensions and 25-35 layers of carbon atoms, graphite flakes with nanoscale dimensions and 20-35 layers of carbon atoms, or graphite flakes with nanoscale dimensions and 20-40 layers of carbon atoms. USE - A composite molding material for molding laminate and fiber reinforced composite component (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The graphene/graphitic material can be applied at any configuration of localized regions on the surface of the fibrous layer, allowing materials to be engineered that provide for the advantageous characteristics and properties of the graphene/graphitic material, which can be achieved in a selective and predetermined manner. The composites have improved interlaminar fracture toughness and strength characteristics that the graphene/graphite material provides, precisely where needed and not elsewhere, where not needed. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) molding laminate comprising a set of layers of composite molding material; (2) fiber reinforced composite component comprising a set of fibrous layers held within cured matrix resin and graphene/graphitic material at greater than or equal to 1 localized regions between greater than or equal to 2 of the fibrous layers to provide interlaminar fracture toughness at the region(s); (3) manufacture (M1) of composite molding material which involves providing fibrous layer and applying graphene/graphitic dispersion at greater than or equal to 1 localized regions over surface of fibrous layer; and (4) manufacture (M2) of fiber reinforced composite component which involves providing a set of fibrous layers, curable matrix resin to consolidate fibrous layers and applying graphene/graphitic dispersion at greater than or equal to 1 localized regions over a surface of greater than or equal to 1 fibrous layers, positioning fibrous layers so that graphene/graphitic material resulting from dispersion is located between 2 adjacent fibrous layers, and subjecting component to conditions to cure the matrix resin around the fibrous material. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - The drawing shows a schematic diagram of the composite molding material.
