NOVELTY - Anode active material comprises carbon-based particles; a first coating layer coupled to at least a portion of a surface of the carbon-based particles; and a second overcoat layer comprising lithium titanic acid and coupled to at least a portion of a surface of the first overcoat layer. The first coating layer is an inorganic substance containing boron, aluminum, phosphorus, sulfur, nitrogen, titanium, zirconium and/or silicon. The first coating layer contains boron oxide, alumina, zirconia, silicon oxide, zinc oxide and/or titanium oxide. The first coating layer further comprises a linear conductive material. The linear conductive material contains carbon nanotubes, carbon nanofibers, metal fibers, vapor grown carbon fibers and/or graphene. USE - The anode active material is useful for lithium secondary battery. ADVANTAGE - The anode active material improves life characteristics and electrical characteristics of lithium secondary battery.
