NOVELTY - A composite material comprises processed silicon suboxide and graphitic carbon where a portion of the graphitic carbon is in graphene sheets, the composite material has a BET surface area of 5-35 m2/g and a discharge capacity of 800 mAh/g at a rate of C/20 discharged from 1.5-0.005 V against lithium metal. USE - Composite material for use in lithium ion secondary battery (claimed) that is utilized in vehicle. ADVANTAGE - The material has relatively large surface area, high specific capacity against lithium, better cycling performance, and high capacity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a lithium ion secondary battery.
