NOVELTY - The method involves providing liquid composition comprising two-dimensional material selected from conducting two-dimensional (2D) material and semi-conducting 2D material, where the liquid composition includes a binder prepared by copolymerization of different unsaturated monomers such as vinyl chloride, dichloroethene, acrylic acid, acrylonitrile, acrylic acid esters and ethers. The yarn is contacted with the liquid composition for period of time. The yarn is dried, where the liquid composition containing the 2D material is aqueous composition. USE - Method for preparing a graphene-based yarn for a textile-based sensor e.g. temperature sensor, strain sensor, humidity sensor, pH sensor, pressure sensor, gas sensor, concentration sensor, capacitive sensor and glucose sensor. Can also be used for supercapacitors and heating elements. ADVANTAGE - The method enables providing reliable, repeatable, economical process for preparing a yarn incorporating the 2D material. The method enables realizing simple and convenient process to scale up.
